The Regional and National Competition

Over 50,000 middle and high school students will compete across the country for an opportunity to represent their states at this highly regarded competition. Each top middle and high school team will showcase their designs to create a low-cost prosthetic device for a young person. Using their science, technology, engineering and math skills, each team will undergo a strenuous competition including a performance test of their design, technical oral presentations, poster board, and submit a technical paper. Temple University will host the Pennsylvania MESA Competition on May 19, 2018. The national competition will be hosted by Pennsylvania MESA and Temple University in Philadelphia, PA on June 20-22, 2018. For more information, visit:

Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) is nationally recognized for its innovative and effective academic development program. MESA engages thousands of educationally disadvantaged students so they excel in math and science and graduate with math-based degrees. MESA partners with all segments of higher education as well as K-12 institutions.

Since 1970 MESA has helped students become scientists, engineers and mathematicians, filling an urgent need for qualified technical professionals. Through three branches of MESA, students from all segments of education are served through local centers.
